Bishop blesses new room & organ

The Sunday Club:

The Sunday Club meets at Quainton Parish Church at 9.30 am every Sunday during school term time.

It caters for children from three to 11 years old and currently has 18 members, divided into three groups: under fives, five to seven plus, and eight to 10 plus. Older children graduate to helping with, then leading (usually in pairs) the youngest group.

The purpose of the club is to get children to feel happy and at home in church and at services, and through games, stories, craft work, bible reading, discussions etc to give them a knowledge of bible stories and Christian beliefs and how that affects the way we live our lives.

Obviously it is very basic for the tinies but the older children sometimes participate in very deep discussions about difficult moral issues.

On the second Sunday of the month the children attend Family Service.

For details see entry under Sunday Services on the official website for the village of Quainton.

On the fourth Sunday they attend Family Communion but go out for their special activities for most of the service except for three of the older children who act as Servers at the service.

On the other Sundays we meet as a Sunday Club for activities, and this lasts for one hour.

There is also an annual outing and a Christmas party or visit to a pantomime.

Each child has a membership card. After attending for 10 weeks the children are given a special Sunday Club sweatshirt to show they belong. A small award is given after every 10 attendances.

Want to join? Just come along the church at 9.30 am any Sunday during school term time.

The Club is led by Claire Lucas with helpers Barbara Fell, Katrina Dalton, Glenys Davies, Rachael Williams and Sarah Williams, Karen Jones, Caroline Crook, Karen Leonard, Caroline Raimbach, Marcus Williams and George Newman.

We would welcome new helpers as we prefer not to ask people to lead a group more than once a month. Do get in touch with Claire Lucas (Tel 01296 655 552, if you would like to get involved.
